Overview
*** is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer to support chemical process safety, equipment readiness, and commissioning activities for the Solar wafers plant in Hemlock, Michigan. This role will help ensure safe design and operation of chemical systems by leading PHA/HAZOP activities, integrating safeguards, and driving action closure with plant, vendor, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or support HAZOPs and PHAs to identify hazards, define safeguards, and ensure process safety compliance.
Apply chemical engineering principles to support safe design, scale-up, optimization, and operation of manufacturing processes.
Support hands-on work in laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing environments to validate process concepts and resolve technical issues.
Document technical work, update procedures, control narratives, and P&IDs, and contribute to intellectual property as appropriate.
Communicate technical updates, risks, and recommendations through reports, presentations, and stakeholder briefings.
Track and report progress against technical, safety, and project objectives.
Collaborate with plant teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges.
Use statistical methods and data analysis to improve understanding and control of chemical processes.
Apply structured problem solving to identify root causes and resolve chemical or manufacturing process upsets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of chemical processes, chemical systems, and engineering fundamentals.
Experience using structured problem-solving methods and experimental design.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multifaceted, diverse team environment, including with international staff.
Desired Skills & Experience
Practical experience with HAZOPs and PHAs for safe process design and operation.
Familiarity with chemical engineering simulation tools such as ChemCAD, ProSim Plus, Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, COMSOL, or MATLAB.
Experience with DOE and statistical tools such as Excel, SigmaZone, JMP, Origin, or Minitab.

A plus (but not required) would be willingness to travel domestically and support other *** Incorporated sites after the current workload is complete.
Standard 40-hour workweek with flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and startup support as needed.
