APS5 Records Management Officer

Canberra ACT | 12-Month Non-Ongoing Contract | Flexible Working Arrangements | NV1 Clearance Required

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Records Management Officer to join a high performing Information Management team within a large Federal Government department.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in records management, information management, document control, archives, or information governance who enjoy working in a structured environment where accuracy, compliance, and customer service are highly valued.

You will play a key role in supporting the management of both physical and electronic records, ensuring information assets are maintained, accessible, and compliant with government requirements.

About the Role

Working within a specialist Information Management team, you will:

  • Manage physical and electronic records throughout their lifecycle.

  • Support the administration and maintenance of the department's Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).

  • Provide records management advice and support to staff across Australia and overseas locations.

  • Assist with records sentencing, disposal, archiving, and transfer activities.

  • Support digitisation and document management initiatives.

  • Deliver user guidance and training on records management processes and systems.

  • Contribute to records compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external organisations to support effective information management practices.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience in records management, information management, document control, archives, or a related discipline.

  • Experience using EDRMS platforms such as Content Manager (TRIM), Objective, OpenText, SharePoint, or similar systems.

  • Strong understanding of records lifecycle management and document governance principles.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when handling sensitive information.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working within government, Defence, or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.

Highly Regarded

  • Australian Government records management experience.

  • Knowledge of records sentencing, disposal schedules, and archives requirements.

  • Experience supporting digitisation projects.

  • Information governance or compliance experience.

Security Requirements

Applicants must hold a current Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance at a minimum. Candidates with an NV2 Clearance will be highly regarded.
