Public Sector People are partnering with a local government organisation to recruit for an Waste Project Officer.
Contract: 6 months | Immediate Start
Hourly Pay Rate: $50-60 p/h + Super
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate waste projects and programs across domestic, commercial, illegal dumping, litter reduction, and community education initiatives.
• Manage the planning, delivery, and evaluation of local and regional waste and resource recovery projects.
• Liaise with key stakeholders, including Council departments, regional waste groups, contractors, government agencies, and community organisations.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, including NSROC and the EPA, to support strategic waste management outcomes.
• Monitor industry trends, legislation, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for waste reduction, resource recovery, and service improvement.
• Support the delivery of community awareness and behaviour change programs that promote sustainable waste management practices.
• Provide project management, reporting, and administrative support to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with Council objectives.

Essential:
- 2+ years experience in an waste role within local government or working in a politically sensitive environment
- Previous experience with TechOne, Content Manager/TRIM, Authority or Pathway highly regarded
