Manager Water and Wastewater
Moree Plains grows more than a billion dollars of agricultural produce a year on its black soil plains, and the NSW Government backed Moree Special Activation Precinct is about to bring new industry and new residents to the shire. None of it happens without water.
This is the role that owns it: Council's water supply and wastewater plants and networks, the strategy behind them, and the capital program that will carry the shire through its next chapter.
The Role
Reporting to the Director Infrastructure, you lead the planning, management and operation of Council's water and wastewater services, with four direct reports and a team of around 24. You own the Integrated Water Cycle Strategy and Plan, the asset and maintenance management systems beneath it, and the delivery of a complex capital program from scope to commissioning.
You are Council's authority on drinking water quality and compliance: applying the Drinking Water Management System guidelines, managing regulated groundwater and surface water systems, and reporting to the EPA and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. You brief Council, shape the Long-Term Financial Plan and are a trusted face to the community.
About You
A degree in engineering, water and wastewater or a related discipline, ideally with asset management certification. Extensive hands-on experience in water supply and wastewater services. A record of leading teams and critical projects, managing budgets with discipline and communicating clearly from plant floor to Council chamber. Local government experience and CAD or GIS capability are desirable. A White Card and Class C driver's licence are required.
Council's values are Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Respectful and Productive. It wants a manager who lives them: forward-thinking, analytical, transparent and accountable.
Why This Role
Full accountability for a shire's water and wastewater systems, a capital program with real scale and a growth agenda that will define the region for a generation. Moree offers a relaxed, connected regional lifestyle, the famous artesian hot springs, the Gwydir Valley and space and affordability the cities cannot match.
