Chief Information Officer – Brimbank City Council

Brimbank City Council is one of Melbourne’s largest and most diverse municipalities, supporting a growing community with evolving expectations around accessibility, responsiveness and digital service delivery. Technology plays a critical role in enabling Council’s current and future direction, improving the experience of residents and employees, and ensuring the organisation remains secure, connected and equipped to respond to emerging opportunities.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Chief Information Officer is responsible for providing strategic, operational and people leadership across Brimbank City Council’s Information Management and Technology function. The CIO will lead Council’s technology and digital strategy, modernising legacy systems and strengthening enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, artificial intelligence and digital service delivery. A key focus will be the Connected Brimbank transformation program, including the implementation and adoption of enterprise platforms.

This critical role will partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Councillors and senior leaders to ensure technology investments align with organisational and community priorities, deliver measurable benefits and support accessible, secure and customer focused services. Leading a multidisciplinary team, the CIO will embed strong governance, project management commercial and technical discipline and a culture of accountability, delivery, continuous improvement of innovation across Council.

To be successful, you will be a proven senior technology leader with a strong track record of delivering complex digital transformation and enterprise system implementation within a large, complex organisation. You will bring broad technology leadership expertise, supported by strong commercial judgement and demonstrated capability in governing complex programs and managing strategic vendor partnerships. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and political acumen will be essential, together with the ability to translate complex technical matters into clear business outcomes and provide trusted advice to executives, Councillors, employees and external partners. You will be a contemporary, values-led and customer-focused leader who can balance strategic ambition with operational delivery, public sector accountability and the responsible use of community resources.
