Location: Dallas, TX
Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Salary: $175,000–$195,000 base + performance-based bonus
Relocation: Assistance available

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across the development and execution of complex power generation projects.

This position will support projects incorporating gas turbines, utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with responsibility for coordinating and overseeing civil, structural and geotechnical engineering throughout project development, design, EPC execution and construction.

Working from the owner's side, you will provide technical oversight of EPC contractors and engineering consultants while managing civil, structural and geotechnical risks that could impact project cost, schedule or constructability.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Engineering

  • Coordinate and oversee civil engineering activities performed by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

  • Review site layouts, grading, earthworks, roads, drainage and underground utility designs.

  • Ensure civil designs meet project requirements and integrate effectively with the overall power plant design.

  • Review flood protection, stormwater management, erosion control and site access requirements.

  • Support optimization of site layouts, grading and earthwork quantities to reduce project cost, schedule and construction risk.

  • Participate in design reviews, value engineering and constructability assessments.

Structural Engineering

  • Coordinate structural engineering activities across power generation facilities.

  • Oversee foundation design for gas turbines, generators, transformers and other balance-of-plant equipment.

  • Review structural steel, pipe rack, building and equipment support designs.

  • Support structural requirements associated with solar and BESS installations.

  • Review engineering calculations, drawings and specifications for technical accuracy and code compliance.

  • Review geotechnical investigations and ensure recommendations are appropriately incorporated into foundation and structural designs.

  • Coordinate structural interfaces with equipment vendors, including equipment loads, anchor bolts and embedments.

  • Ensure effective coordination between civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.

  • Verify designs against applicable ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC 360 requirements and site-specific wind, seismic and soil conditions.

EPC & Consultant Management

  • Serve as the civil and structural engineering coordination lead when working with EPC contractors.

  • Define scopes of work and review technical proposals from engineering and geotechnical consultants.

  • Oversee the quality, schedule and technical performance of EPC and consultant deliverables.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, constructability reviews and project risk assessments.

  • Identify and resolve civil, structural and geotechnical issues throughout engineering, procurement and construction.

  • Ensure civil and structural requirements are properly integrated across the wider project.

Construction & Project Support

  • Provide technical support during construction and assist with resolution of field engineering issues.

  • Review civil and structural design changes for technical, cost and schedule impacts.

  • Support constructability assessments and value engineering initiatives.

  • Coordinate technical interfaces between site contractors, EPC teams, equipment vendors and engineering consultants.

  • Help identify and mitigate civil, structural and geotechnical risks before they impact project execution.

Regulatory, Documentation & Risk Management

  • Support coordination with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders regarding civil and structural design approvals.

  • Assist with responses to technical comments and information requests.

  • Maintain appropriate technical studies, calculations, drawings and engineering documentation.

  • Report on design progress and emerging technical risks.

  • Provide civil and structural input into project schedules, budgets and risk registers.

  • Support technical inputs for project development reports, internal approvals, financing and due diligence activities.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Approximately 7–10+ years of civil and structural engineering experience supporting power generation or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.

  • Experience overseeing or coordinating EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

  • Strong knowledge of civil site development, grading, drainage, earthworks and underground infrastructure.

  • Experience with structural steel and foundation design for major industrial equipment and facilities.

  • Strong understanding of geotechnical considerations and their impact on foundation and site design.

  • Knowledge of applicable structural design codes including ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC 360.

  • Experience reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and other design packages.

  • Strong technical review, coordination and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas turbine power generation experience.

  • Utility-scale solar and/or BESS project experience.

  • Experience reviewing civil and structural design packages during EPC execution.

  • Owner/developer-side power generation experience.

  • Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering tools.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

  • Field engineering or construction experience on major power or industrial projects.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to take significant technical ownership across major energy infrastructure projects, working closely with project leadership, EPC contractors, engineering consultants and equipment vendors.

The position offers a $175,000–$195,000 base salary, performance-based bonus opportunity, potential sign-on support and relocation assistance for candidates moving to the Dallas area.

If you have a strong background in civil and structural engineering for power generation or large industrial infrastructure and want to take an owner-side role across the full project lifecycle, we would like to hear from you.
