Apply directWe are currently working with a civil contractor in Wellington looking for a Project Engineer with experience delivering civil infrastructure, land development, roading, structures, or utilities projects.
Our client is a respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the Wellington region and wider Lower North Island. With a commitment to developing its people and promoting from within, this role offers an opportunity to develop your technical and leadership skills while progressing your career towards senior engineering or project management positions.
Projects could likely include a mix of civil infrastructure, earthworks, land development, water, structures, utilities, transportation, and public infrastructure works.
Key day to day responsibilities;
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Support project planning, programming, procurement, and construction methodology development.
- Monitor project progress and assist with reporting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Ensure quality assurance processes are implemented and maintained.
- Prepare and manage project documentation, including work plans, inspection and test plans, and site records.
- Assist with quantity tracking, measurements, and project administration.
- Promote and uphold a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all project activities.
About You
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, NZCE, or a related discipline.
- Ideally, 5+ years' experience within civil construction, infrastructure, or related project environments.
- Experience working alongside construction site teams and subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude and desire to continue developing your engineering career.
- New Zealand work rights (Citizenship, Residency, or valid work visa).
