Automotive Technician

Job reference: 33239

At EmployMe Solutions, we do things a little differently – because we know technicians deserve more than just a bench and a toolbox. We match experienced tradespeople with employers who actually walk the talk – offering stability, development, and a workplace where you’ll be appreciated for what you bring to the floor.

We’re looking for a qualified Automotive Technician to join a high-performing, fast-paced site in Wellington. This is a dynamic workshop that hums with activity, driven by a team who take pride in getting the job done right, and enjoying the ride while they do it.

What you’ll be doing:

• Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a range of light vehicles – efficiently and accurately
• Using the latest diagnostics equipment to solve problems
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with employees and other departments to establish a positive workplace culture
• Working closely with a team that backs each other
• Perform routine and repair work on vehicles in a way that ensures prompt and accurate diagnoses of vehicle problems and service requirements
• To identify faults & test-drive company and customer vehicles safely
• Work with Service and Parts Advisors to ensure a smooth repair and service of all vehicles, while delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction in order to drive business for the service department and the company overall
• Upskilling themselves to keep up to date with the latest in procedures, repairs and product knowledge
• Maintaining a full understanding of servicing schedules and the requirements
• Completing all formal company and manufacturing required technical training

What we’re looking for:

• Relevant NZQF Level 4 Motor trade qualification (or international equivalent) OR at least 3 years’ experience as an Automotive technician
• Confidence working across a range of makes and models
• Sound fault-finding and diagnostic experience
• Proficient computer skills with good written and verbal communication
• Quality attention to detail in recording vehicle information, concentrating on getting it right the first time
• Someone who’s just as comfortable with a scan tool as a spanner
• A team player with a reliable, can-do attitude – your word counts here
• Full NZ driver’s licence

What’s in it for you?

• Full-time, permanent work offering 40 hours per week in a genuinely busy and respected workshop
• Up-to-date tools, tech, and a modern workspace
• Career growth pathways – whether it’s team leadership or master tech level
• Regular brand training and development support
• Strong team culture where your experience is recognised – and rewarded
• Competitive hourly rate of $37 - $42 per hour + overtime options
• Optional overtime available if you're keen to boost your earnings

This is the kind of role where Monday mornings don’t feel like a drag – because you’re part of a team that’s got your back, and leadership that knows good technicians don’t grow on trees.
