As Clinical Lead – Emergency Medicine at the Community Hospital, you'll work alongside the Clinical Director to help shape the strategic direction of the Emergency Department while continuing to provide high-quality patient care. This is an ideal role for a clinician who enjoys mentoring, service development and building a positive, high-performing team.

The Opportunity
The Community Hospital's Emergency Department manages approximately 30,000 presentations annually, providing a broad and varied emergency medicine caseload. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake some clinical shifts at the Regional Hospital, working within an integrated emergency medicine network.
Beyond your clinical responsibilities, you'll contribute to:
  • Clinical leadership and strategic service development
  • Workforce planning and quality improvement initiatives
  • Teaching and supervision of Registrars, Residents and medical students
  • Development of undergraduate education through the University of Tasmania Rural Clinical School
  • Supporting ACEM-accredited training programs and emergency education across region.
This is a department where specialist interests are actively encouraged. Current consultants have expertise across toxicology, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), paediatric emergency medicine, disaster medicine, medical education, humanitarian medicine, research, palliative care and voluntary assisted dying. You'll be supported to develop your own portfolio aligned with your interests.

What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from:
  • FACEM specialists
  • FACRRM or FRACGP Fellows with substantial Emergency Medicine experience
  • Clinicians with advanced emergency medicine qualifications and critical care experience
Candidates with leadership experience, strong teaching skills and a passion for service improvement will be highly regarded.
