Clarity Partners is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join an ASX-listed mining services group. The organisation delivers specialist services across contract mining, drilling, mining services and technology, supporting major mining operations across Australia and international markets.
This is an opportunity to join a large and diverse organisation on a maternity leave contract, supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll across a complex operational workforce. Working closely with Finance, HR and operational stakeholders, you will play an important role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately, compliantly and within strict deadlines.
This role is highly flexible and open to part-time (3 days a week), school hours or full time hours and can be based out of the CBD or in offices close to Perth Airport.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll accurately and within established payroll deadlines
- Review and validate timesheets, payroll data, employee changes and other payroll inputs
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure changes are processed promptly
- Manage payroll queries from employees, managers and internal stakeholders
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner
- Process employee leave, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments
- Ensure payroll processing complies with relevant legislation, awards, agreements and company policies
- Complete payroll reconciliations and assist with payroll reporting as required
- Support payroll-related audits, compliance activities and month-end processes
- Liaise with HR, Finance and operational teams to resolve payroll matters
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and data accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure sensitive employee information is handled appropriately
- Provide additional support to the broader Finance and Payroll team as required
About You
You will be an experienced payroll professional who is confident processing end to end payroll and understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and meeting strict deadlines.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience in a Payroll Officer (3+ years)
- Strong understanding of end-to-end Australian payroll processes
- Experience working with payroll systems and/or ERP platforms, with Pronto experience advantageous
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, leave and employee entitlements
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and data reconciliation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and confidently resolve payroll queries
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
- Previous experience within mining, resources, construction, heavy industry or another complex operational environment will be highly regarded
