For the Insurance Lawyer Who Wants More Than Volume Files
You're experienced in defendant insurance and know the mechanics of running claims. What you're looking for now is stronger mentorship, more interesting work and a team where quality, collaboration and career development genuinely matter.
This is an opportunity to join one of Queensland's leading statutory insurance practices, acting for insurers, employers and institutions on complex and often sensitive claims.
The Firm
This national commercial law firm is recognised for the strength of its insurance practice and longstanding relationships with insurers, government bodies and major organisations across Australia.
Its statutory insurance team is consistently involved in significant workers' compensation, CTP and liability matters, with a reputation for technical excellence, practical advice and outstanding client service.
The Timing
The practice continues to see sustained growth across its insurance and personal injury work, creating an opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate to join a well-established, high-performing team.
The Work Itself
You'll advise insurers, self-insured employers and institutions through the lifecycle of complex claims, helping clients navigate legal, commercial and reputational issues. Your work will span workers' compensation, compulsory third party claims, historical abuse matters and broader personal injury and liability disputes. You'll manage files from early investigations through to conferences, mediations and, where required, trial, working closely with sophisticated clients who value practical, commercially focused advice.
Where You'll Land
You'll join a collaborative and inclusive team known for its strong culture, technical capability and commitment to supporting lawyers at every stage of their careers. Some of the benefits include:
You will ideally have 4-8 years' PAE in defendant insurance, workers' compensation, CTP or personal injury litigation. You'll be confident managing claims, conducting conferences and mediations, and delivering high-quality client service. Strong drafting skills, commercial judgement and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively will be important.
For more senior candidates, experience mentoring junior lawyers and helping develop team capability will be highly regarded.
