Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced and mechanically inclined Machine Operator III to join our 3rd Shift production team in Holland, MI. In this role, you'll set up, adjust, and safely operate a variety of machines used to cut and slot partitions from different types of roll stock according to specifications.
This position requires strong machine setup and troubleshooting skills, attention to product quality, and the ability to recognize and correct operating issues independently.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Machine Operator III, your core responsibilities will include:
- Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, adjust, and safely operate machines used to cut and slot partitions according to production specifications.
- Equipment Adjustments: Work from patterns to mount and adjust dies, guides, feeds, speeds, tension, and other machine settings.
- Troubleshooting: Recognize operating problems and make necessary adjustments for stock variations, worn dies, humidity, and other production conditions.
- Quality Control: Take responsibility for product quality and use board gauges, rules, patterns, and other inspection tools to verify specifications.
- Material Handling: Move and change rolls, transport strip loads and scrap loads, and safely operate hand and power trucks.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine machine repairs, lubrication, and preventive maintenance as needed.
- Production Documentation: Accurately record and report production times, materials produced, equipment problems, and other required information.
- Production Scheduling: Work from manufacturing requirement schedules to complete assigned production work efficiently.
- Training & Cross-Training: Train other team members, answer questions regarding stacking and packing procedures, and participate in cross-training.
- Parts & Supplies: Maintain a working knowledge of material and inventory identification and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Safety: Practice and promote safe work habits while immediately reporting unsafe conditions or equipment requiring repair.
In addition, you'll maintain expected productivity levels, communicate effectively with team members and leadership, and help create a positive, team-based production environment.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Previous machine operation experience required.
- Strong experience with machine setup and adjustments.
- Ability to independently complete machine setups and work preparation, seeking assistance when unusual circumstances arise.
- Ability to recognize machine operating problems and make appropriate adjustments.
- Working knowledge of materials and inventory identification.
- Ability to safely operate machines, hand tools, and powered material-handling equipment.
- Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance and basic machine repairs.
- Ability to follow manufacturing schedules and production specifications.
- Willingness to participate in cross-training and train other team members.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment.
