Commercial Manager

FRS Recruitment are partnering with a leading specialist construction contractor to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager for a senior leadership position based in Cork City.

With a wealth of industry experience, our client delivers specialist construction and high-specification interior fit-out solutions across Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Food Manufacturing and High-End Construction projects. Operating throughout Ireland and mainland Europe, they work alongside some of the world's leading contractors and global clients, delivering technically challenging projects where quality, programme certainty and commercial excellence are paramount.

Reporting directly to the MD, this is a pivotal appointment within the business. The successful candidate will lead the commercial function across multiple live projects while helping shape the commercial strategy, processes and future growth of the company. Managing an experienced commercial team, you will play a key role in protecting profitability, managing contractual risk and ensuring commercial best practice is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Commercial Manager, Commercial Lead or Commercial Director looking to join a growing specialist contractor with a strong pipeline of technically complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function across multiple live projects.
• Develop and mentor Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
• Drive commercial strategy from contract award through final account.
• Oversee CVRs, forecasting, reporting and commercial performance.
• Manage contracts, variations, claims and commercial negotiations.
• Work closely with project delivery teams and senior management.
• Improve commercial systems, governance and reporting processes.
• Identify commercial risks and maximise project profitability.

Requirements

• Significant experience in a senior commercial management position.
• Previous leadership experience managing commercial teams.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk.
• Proven experience managing CVRs, variations and final accounts.
• Excellent commercial reporting and forecasting capabilities.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Irish/UK construction experience highly advantageous.
