JV Recruitment is currently partnering with a premier commercial property contractor to secure top-tier electrical talent for their expanding operations across the Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs. We have two distinct career paths available depending on your experience and career goals: a hands-on Commercial Maintenance Electrician role and a hybrid Electrical Service & Maintenance Supervisor position.
Whether you are looking for a reliable, long-term role on the tools or you are a gun maintenance sparky ready to step up and transition into operational leadership, JV has the pathway for you.
Option 1: Electrical Service & Maintenance Supervisor (Hybrid / Pathway Off Tools)
Based out of Kensington and active CBD commercial sites, this role bridges the gap between technical expertise and leadership. You will start in a hybrid capacity—split between on and off the tools—with a structured pathway to transitioning fully off the tools as you master the portfolio. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will oversee preventative/reactive maintenance and minor project delivery for a high-profile commercial building portfolio.
Option 2: Commercial Maintenance Electrician (100% On the Tools)
Focusing entirely on high-volume commercial property facilities, this role puts you right on the front lines of service delivery across the Melbourne CBD. This is an immediate, ongoing opportunity for a reliable, self-motivated technician who thrives on variety, fault-finding, and delivering exceptional service across active commercial environments.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
For the Supervisor Pathway:
  • Portfolio Management: Overseeing reactive maintenance works across a commercial building portfolio, ensuring tasks are closed out strictly within client KPIs.
  • Project Delivery: Managing minor project works, lighting upgrades, and power alterations (no major structural fit-outs).
  • Operational Coordination: Scheduling preventative maintenance, collating site reports, and identifying required repairs.
  • Logistics & Stakeholders: Ordering materials, scheduling direct staff/subcontractors, and dealing with client stakeholders.
  • System Administration: Utilizing client portals and workflow systems (AroFlo) to track and update work orders.
  • Quoting: Learning to quote minor works with full training and guidance provided by the Service Manager.
For the Maintenance Electrician Pathway:
  • Reactive Maintenance: Attending urgent service requests, fault finding, and rectifying electrical breakdowns swiftly.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine testing, tagging, compliance inspections, and scheduled servicing.
  • Minor Works: Delivering light property upgrades, power alterations, and lighting installations.
  • System Reporting: Utilizing internal service software (AroFlo) to log work details and track asset data.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • The Golden Three:
    • Valid White Card.
    • Minimum 12 months commercial experience for the Electrician role; Minimum 10 years relevant commercial maintenance experience for the Supervisor role.
    • Full PPE (Hard hat, Hi-vis, Steel cap boots).
  • Trade Specifics:
    • A-Grade Electrician Qualification / Cert III in Electrotechnology.
    • Pay rates vary between $45 - $55 per hour (depending on experience and role) + Super + Coinvest
    • Own tools (Tested & Tagged) (required for the electrician role and the initial hybrid phase of the supervisor role).
    • Company UTE to be provided for the right candidate.
    • 3 Months Temp to Perm with the client
  • Operational Fit:
    • Strong background in commercial building maintenance is essential.
    • Supervisory experience is not a must for the supervisor position—we want a technically excellent sparky looking to step up.
    • Familiarity with AroFlo or similar maintenance management software is highly regarded.
