Trades Assistant – O&M Solar Farm (Fixed Term 12 Months)

About the Role
We are seeking 2 x hands-on Trades Assistants to support operations and maintenance activities at a large-scale renewable energy facility in regional Victoria.
This is a diverse, practical role where you will work closely with site technicians to keep the facility clean, safe, organised and operating efficiently. You’ll be involved in general labouring, basic maintenance support, grounds upkeep, stores handling and site coordination activities.
This role suits someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining high site standards, and thrives in a safety-first, team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
Site Maintenance & Support

• Assist site technicians with general labouring, tool handling and preparation of work areas
• Support routine maintenance activities including basic plant and equipment checks
• Assist with cleaning tasks, module cleaning support and general site upkeep
• Carry out grounds maintenance including mowing, slashing, weed control and firebreak maintenance
• Support environmental and rehabilitation activities including fire risk and fuel load management
• Maintain clean and organised work areas across site buildings and facilities
• Report hazards, faults and site issues promptly

Stores & Site Coordination

• Receive, dispatch and process deliveries and goods
• Assist with stock control, storage organisation and basic inventory tracking
• Maintain tidy, clearly labelled storage and laydown areas
• Support contractor and visitor coordination as required
• Maintain accurate logs and records of daily activity

Site Operations

• Conduct basic site inspections and routine checks under direction
• Operate site vehicles and equipment (where licensed), including forklifts and similar plant
• Support site security checks, access control and general monitoring
• Enter basic operational data into CMMS or log systems where required

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current Driver’s Licence
• Construction White Card
• Strong work ethic and safety-first mindset
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and undertake physical work

Highly Regarded

• Trade qualification (electrical or mechanical discipline)
• Forklift, EWP or Telehandler licences
• Working at Heights, Confined Space and First Aid certifications
• Experience in construction, agriculture, mining, manufacturing or renewable energy
• HR/MR truck licence
• Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, slashers, etc.)
• Basic computer skills or exposure to CMMS / maintenance systems
