This fixed-term opportunity is ideal for experienced Class 4 and 5 Drivers who take pride in operating heavy vehicles to a high standard and delivering freight safely and on time.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of freight and asphalt materials, ensuring all journeys are completed in line with NZ road regulations and company procedures. Working across the Lower Hutt and wider Wellington region, you’ll play a key role in maintaining service quality, minimising risk, and supporting operational timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
* Safely operate Class 4 and 5 heavy vehicles for freight and asphalt transport across assigned routes.
* Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying faults and performing basic maintenance as required.
* Load, secure and unload freight and asphalt materials in accordance with safety standards and load restraint requirements.
* Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records and other documentation to meet legal and company compliance.
* Apply defensive driving techniques and hazard awareness to ensure safe operation in varying traffic and weather conditions.
* Plan efficient routes and manage driving time to meet delivery schedules while adhering to fatigue management procedures.
* Follow all health and safety protocols, including PPE use, site safety rules and incident reporting.
* Comply with company policies, industry standards and NZ transport regulations at all times.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience driving Class 4 and/or Class 5 heavy vehicles in New Zealand.
* Comprehensive knowledge of NZ road rules, transport regulations and heavy vehicle operating requirements.
* Demonstrated ability in defensive driving, hazard identification and risk minimisation.
* Strong skills in accurate logbook management and documentation handling.
* Experience in safe loading, securing and unloading of freight and/or bulk materials.
* Solid understanding of health and safety practices, including fatigue management.
* Ability to perform routine vehicle checks and identify faults or maintenance needs.
* Reliable, punctual and able to work to set schedules on a fixed-term basis.

Desirable Skills:
* Experience working with asphalt transport or similar construction-related freight.
* Familiarity with the Wellington region road network and local delivery routes.
* Previous experience within a transport, logistics or civil construction environment.
* Basic mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
* Current NZ Class 4 and/or Class 5 driver licence.
* Clean driving record with no recent serious infringements.
* Defensive driving certificate or similar safety-related training (preferred).
* Relevant transport or logistics training qualifications (preferred).
