About the Role
Reporting to the Team Leader Traffic Engineering & Planning, you will provide expert advice and technical leadership to support the development of transport networks that are efficient, connected, and safe for all road users.
The role offers a diverse portfolio including traffic engineering assessments, transport planning initiatives, infrastructure projects, stakeholder engagement, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and recommend traffic infrastructure improvements including intersections, roads, cycleways, footpaths and associated facilities.
- Coordinate and manage traffic matters relating to public and private events.
- Support traffic committee processes, Council reports and implementation of endorsed traffic initiatives.
- Manage and contribute to traffic and transport studies undertaken internally or by external consultants.
- Provide specialist traffic engineering advice for development applications, strategic projects and transport initiatives.
- Liaise with government agencies, transport providers, community stakeholders and infrastructure partners.
- Prepare funding submissions and project manage transport and traffic-related capital works programs.
- Contribute to policy development, process improvement and continuous service enhancement.
To be successful in this position, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, stakeholder engagement skills and a genuine commitment to delivering practical community outcomes.
You will ideally possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in traffic engineering, transport planning or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of traffic management principles, legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- High-level project management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Experience managing competing stakeholder interests and resolving complex issues.
- A current driver's licence.
- Experience with traffic and transport modelling software.
- Proficiency with engineering and project management applications such as MS Project and MS Access.
- Road safety or traffic management accreditations.
- Influence strategic transport outcomes that directly benefit the community.
- Work on a diverse range of transport and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with experienced planning, engineering and government professionals.
