About the role
The Financial Markets Foundation for Children Chair in Neonatal Paediatrics is a Level E (Professor) appointment within the School of Clinical Sciences, based at Monash Children's Hospital, Clayton. The Chair will build on the remarkable foundations established since this position was created in 2020, including advancing the strategic development of newborn medicine at Monash, fostering the cohesive interdisciplinary research group, leading active and planned clinical trials, attracting competitive grant funding and further building the growing pipeline of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers across neonatal neurology, respiratory medicine, neuroprotection, and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Responsible for the next chapter of the Foundation, the next Chair will drive discovery, translation, and clinical impact through sustained academic leadership, deep collaboration with The Ritchie Centre, the Hudson Institute, and Monash Newborn, and cultivate the next generation of clinician-scientists in an environment that is both ambitious and collegial. A fractional clinical role with Monash Health will also be offered with this appointment.
About you
You are a highly regarded clinician-scientist with an outstanding international record in research relevant to newborn medicine, and the vision, leadership capability, and collaborative instincts to build on what has already been established. With a specialist qualification in paediatrics and a distinguished research profile evidenced by high-impact publications and significant competitive grant success, you bring the intellectual ambition to inspire a research community and the strategic acumen to shape its future direction. You are an experienced leader of multidisciplinary teams, a committed mentor of early-career researchers and trainees, and a skilled relationship builder across clinical, academic, and institutional environments.
