Associate/AVP - ETF Distribution

Introduction

Our client is a leading global asset manager seeking an Associate / Assistant Vice President to join its ETF Distribution team in Tokyo. This is an excellent opportunity for a client-facing investment professional with an interest in ETFs and indexed investing to play a key role in expanding the firm's ETF business across both institutional and intermediary channels. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership while collaborating with local and global teams in a highly visible role.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head of ETF Distribution, this position supports the growth of the ETF business by developing client relationships, delivering market insights, preparing sales proposals, and contributing to product positioning. The role combines sales support, market research, and cross-functional collaboration, offering broad exposure to institutional investors, financial intermediaries, and investment products.

Responsibilities

• Support ETF business development initiatives across institutional investors and intermediary distribution channels.
• Prepare client presentations, proposal materials, market analysis, and follow-up documentation.
• Research prospective clients and identify new business opportunities.
• Develop investment use cases and portfolio solutions tailored to client objectives and investment needs.
• Produce market intelligence on industry trends, fund flows, and the competitive landscape.
• Create research and sales materials that strengthen client engagement and investment discussions.
• Partner with marketing to develop client communications and support seminars, webinars, and promotional campaigns.
• Collaborate with global colleagues to share market insights and align business strategies.
• Assist with product management and sales administration activities.

Requirements

• 3–8 years of experience within the financial services industry.
• Experience gained at an asset manager, investment bank, securities firm, investment research provider, financial data provider, or similar financial institution.
• Knowledge of ETFs, global equity markets, and passive or index-based investment strategies.
• Client-facing experience in sales, relationship management, product specialist, investment consulting, or similar functions.
• Experience using Bloomberg and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent presentation and documentation skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English, including the ability to read and write professional documents.
• A university degree or above.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA or CMA are advantageous but not essential.
