Position Summary

This is a Senior Electrical Hardware Design Engineer position focused on the complete design and development of power distribution circuit card assemblies (CCAs) for advanced aerospace and defense programs.

The engineer will own the circuit card from concept through design, layout, prototype, integration, testing, and Design Assurance approval while working closely with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software/Firmware, Manufacturing, and PCB Layout teams.

What This Engineer Will Actually Do

1. Circuit Card Design (Primary Responsibility – 40%)

The engineer will own the electrical design of complex circuit boards.

This includes:

  • Circuit card architecture
  • Power distribution design
  • Schematic capture
  • Component selection
  • Signal routing support
  • PCB layout reviews
  • Design validation

Looking for someone who has designed hardware—not someone who only tests it.


2. Power Electronics Design (20%)

Strong experience designing:

  • Power distribution
  • Voltage regulation
  • DC power systems
  • Power conversion
  • High-current circuitry
  • Analog and mixed-signal designs

This role is heavily focused on power electronics, not digital FPGA development.


3. Requirements Development (15%)

Candidate must have experience creating:

  • Performance requirements
  • Environmental requirements
  • Interface requirements
  • Hardware specifications
  • Electrical requirements

Not just following requirements—
They should have experience writing and refining requirements.


4. Schematic Capture & PCB Design (15%)

Must have significant experience using

Siemens Xpedition Enterprise

(or Mentor Graphics Expedition)

for

  • Schematic capture
  • Library management
  • PCB layout coordination
  • Signal routing
  • Design documentation

Equivalent tools that may transfer well:

  • Mentor Graphics Expedition
  • Xpedition Enterprise
  • Cadence Allegro (less preferred)

5. Design Assurance & Testing (10%)

The engineer owns the design through qualification.

Includes:

  • Prototype builds
  • Integration
  • Functional testing
  • Environmental testing
  • Qualification support
  • Design reviews
