Reporting to the Head of Digital, AI and Conversion, the Manager will lead programmes that help tourism businesses grow by improving their digital capability, increasing online sales and converting more customer interest into bookings, visits and revenue.
The role will focus on supporting small and medium-sized tourism businesses across Ireland. It will work with businesses, industry partners and stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver practical supports that help businesses attract customers, improve online presence, convert interest into bookings and build long-term capability.
A key part of the role will be helping businesses make better use of digital tools, data and AI in practical and responsible ways. This means identifying where technology can help businesses solve real problems, improve how they work, make better decisions, reach more customers and increase conversion. The successful candidate does not need to be a technical specialist but should be confident in understanding business needs and translating digital, data and AI opportunities into clear supports that can help businesses grow online.
Key Responsibilities:
Tourism Business Support and Development
- Manage the design and delivery of programmes that help tourism businesses improve customer engagement, online sales, booking conversion, marketing, productivity and overall business capability.
- Work directly with tourism businesses to understand their needs and identify practical supports that can make a real difference.
- Ensure programmes are relevant, accessible and useful for small and medium-sized businesses.
- Help businesses strengthen their ability to attract customers, improve sales, convert interest into action and build long-term resilience.
- Use feedback from businesses and industry partners to improve existing supports and shape future programme activity.
Digital, AI and Conversion Improvement
- Support tourism businesses to make better use of digital tools, data and AI where these can improve business performance, increase online sales and support stronger conversion.
- Manage the development of practical guidance, resources and programmes that help businesses improve their online presence, reach the right customers, increase direct sales and convert more interest into bookings.
- Use data, customer insights and business feedback to identify where businesses are losing sales online and shape practical supports to address these gaps.
- Keep informed about relevant digital and AI trends and consider how they can help tourism businesses improve customer engagement, sales and conversion.
- Translate digital and AI opportunities into clear, practical advice that helps non-technical audiences take action and improve commercial results.
Programme and Project Management
- Manage programmes from planning through to delivery, review and reporting.
- Set clear objectives, timelines, budgets and measures of success for each programme, including measures linked to online sales, customer engagement and conversion where relevant.
- Manage delivery partners, suppliers and external service providers to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Monitor progress, identify risks and take action to keep programmes on track.
- Evaluate programme results using evidence, including business feedback, sales outcomes and conversion-related measures where available, to improve future activity
Industry and Stakeholder Relationships
- Build strong relationships with tourism businesses, industry bodies, government departments, state agencies and other partners.
- Act as a trusted contact for stakeholders involved in business support and tourism development.
- Work with partners to avoid duplication and ensure businesses can access the right support at the right time.
- Encourage collaboration across the tourism and enterprise support system.
- Represent the needs of tourism businesses in internal planning and programme development.
Cross-Organisational Collaboration
- Work closely with teams across Fáilte Ireland to ensure coordinated programme planning, delivery and performance measurement.
- Collaborate with internal teams across Fáilte Ireland to ensure coordinated operationalisation and measurement of grant-funded digitalisation schemes.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure support programmes are aligned with wider priorities for digital adoption, online sales growth, conversion and business resilience.
- Ensure all activity contributes to wider organisational priorities including regional development, sustainability, accessibility, inclusion and business resilience.
Team Management and Governance
- Manage, coach and support assigned team members to deliver agreed objectives.
- Create a collaborative, practical and business-focused approach within the team.
- Manage programme budgets, procurement processes and delivery contracts in line with Fáilte Ireland policies and public sector requirements.
- Monitor programme performance through effective measurement frameworks, provide clear progress updates, performance reports and risk updates to the Head of Digital, AI and Conversion.
- Ensure all projects comply with public spending guidelines, public financial procedures and State Aid requirements, maintaining appropriate governance and risk documentation.
- Ensure strong programme governance, compliance and financial management across all assigned programmes and activities
- Oversee the effective closure and transition of existing digitalisation programmes and associated supplier contracts, ensuring all reporting, audit, financial and contractual obligations are fulfilled. Support the ongoing collection and analysis of programme performance data to demonstrate impact and support future investment decisions.
Corporate Responsibility
- Work closely with the Head of Division and colleagues across Fáilte Ireland to support effective delivery, manage dependencies, communicate progress and escalate key risks or issues appropriately.
- Model Fáilte Ireland’s corporate values, support effective internal communications within the team, contribute to wider organisational development and change initiatives, and carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specification:
- Ability to build trust with businesses and stakeholders.

- Ability to communicate digital and AI opportunities in plain English for non-technical audiences.
Essential Criteria:
In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must have / demonstrate in your application form the following:
- A third-level qualification at a minimum of NFQ Level 6.
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role designing, managing or delivering business support programmes, development programmes or advisory services for SMEs.
- Experience working directly with businesses and stakeholders in the tourism sector, or in a related enterprise or economic development environment, to identify needs, deliver practical supports and achieve measurable outcomes.
- Experience managing or delivering programmes that support business growth by improving sales, customer engagement, conversion, and overall business performance.
- Strong project and programme management experience, including planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting.
- Strong relationship management skills, with experience working with businesses, stakeholders, external delivery partners and suppliers.
- People management experience, including leading, coaching or developing team members.
- Budget management experience, with the ability to manage resources and deliver value for money.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience of digital and AI adoption, digital marketing, e-commerce, online sales, conversion improvement would be an advantage
- A relevant professional qualification or certification in programme management, project management, business development, digital transformation, change management, data or AI would be advantageous.
- Experience using data, feedback and evidence to improve programmes and demonstrate impact.

Office Location and Blended Working:
We do not ask for addresses as part of the application process, however it is the responsibility of the candidate to acknowledge the base location of the role. The successful candidate must regularly work from and attend the base office location of the role.
Please note: Remote working from outside the State is not permitted other than in exceptional circumstances. As this role is within the Irish public service, the post-holder must carry out a minimum of 80% of their working time within the State (Republic of Ireland). Candidates who reside in Northern Ireland must be able to meet this requirement.
This role requires travel, with attendance at a number of national and regional locations / sites on an annual basis
The flexibility to travel domestically, and on occasion internationally is an element of this role
Selection Process: Shortlisting will be based on applications and the selection process may involve two competency based interviews. A panel of successful candidates may be formed following the selection process.
Interview Attendance Requirement: Candidates must be available to attend an in-person interview at the location and date specified by Fáilte Ireland. Please note that the location of the interview may vary from the base location of the role.
Salary and Benefits
€69,149 - €109,980*
*This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at Point 1 of the relevant Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role.
The Annual Leave allowance for this post is 27 days.
