Training & Education Officer

FRS is delighted to be partnering with Aoibhneas in the recruitment of a Training & Education Officer to lead the development and delivery of education, training and awareness initiatives across the organisation and wider community.

Role Purpose

The Training & Education Officer will develop and deliver high-quality training and awareness programmes that promote understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women, children and young people.

The role will build knowledge and skills across Aoibhneas, partner organisations and the wider community through training, education, awareness initiatives and professional engagement. The postholder will also represent the organisation and contribute to service development and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Education

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver training for staff, volunteers, students and external stakeholders.
  • Design and maintain training materials, presentations, guidance and learning resources.
  • Deliver training on domestic abuse, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, coercive control, risk assessment, child protection and related areas.
  • Develop annual training plans aligned with organisational priorities and legislative requirements.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate training records and support compliance with mandatory learning requirements.
  • Work with managers to identify learning and development needs.

Community Awareness & Engagement

  • Deliver workshops, presentations, information sessions and awareness initiatives to schools, community groups, statutory agencies and voluntary organisations.
  • Promote understanding of domestic abuse and best practice responses within communities and professional networks.
  • Represent Aoibhneas at conferences, forums, community events and professional networks.
  • Develop accessible educational and information resources.
  • Support local and national awareness initiatives relating to domestic abuse and violence against women.

Service Development

  • Research emerging trends, evidence and best practice to inform training and programme development.
  • Identify training and knowledge gaps across services and partner organisations.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and practice guidance.
  • Support specialist programmes for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and organisational learning.

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with statutory agencies, schools, colleges, community organisations and professional networks.
  • Support collaborative initiatives and referral pathways.
  • Participate in relevant interagency groups, committees and professional networks.
  • Strengthen partnership approaches to domestic abuse prevention and response.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of training delivery, attendance and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports, statistics and evaluation data.
  • Assist with funding reports, monitoring requirements and service evaluations.
  • Maintain training databases and learning management systems where applicable.
  • Liaise with the Head of Services regarding priorities and programme development.

Other Duties

  • Participate in relevant training and continuous professional development.
  • Work collaboratively across Aoibhneas to support organisational objectives.
  • Represent Aoibhneas professionally and maintain high standards of practice.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as assigned by the Head of Services or CEO.

Person Requirements

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in Education, Training, Social Care, Community Development, Social Science, Adult Education or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three years' relevant experience in training, education, social care, community development or a related setting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children.
  • Proven experience designing, delivering and evaluating training programmes.
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience developing training materials and learning resources.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent report-writing and data management abilities.
  • Experience working with partners and external stakeholders.
  • Full driving licence.

Desirable

  • Qualification or accreditation in training/adult education.
  • Knowledge of Children First and safeguarding requirements.
  • Experience delivering training within the domestic abuse, social care or community sector.
  • Experience of interagency working.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.

  • Strong self-management and emotional resilience.

Role Requirements

The role will require flexibility to work across Aoibhneas and community locations, with regular travel to educational, community and organisational settings.

Working hours will generally be five days per week between 9.00am and 6.00pm, with occasional evening or weekend work required to facilitate training, awareness events and community engagement activities.

A full driving licence is essential.
