Fit Out Foreman / Lead Carpenter

FRS Recruitment is working with an established Main Contractor seeking an experienced Fit-Out Foreman to join their team in Cork City.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Carpenter / Joiner who has progressed into supervision, or an experienced Foreman who still enjoys being involved on site and is happy to lend a hand when required.

The successful candidate will work across commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects, initially within the retail and office sectors. Projects will involve substantial strip-out, refurbishment and complete internal fit-out works, with individual programmes typically running c. 8–12 months.

This is very much a working Foreman position. Alongside leading carpenters and labourers, the successful candidate should be comfortable getting involved with works on site where required, particularly across carpentry, joinery, drywall and finishing elements.

There is a very strong pipeline of upcoming work in Cork, offering excellent long-term security for someone looking to establish themselves with a strong Main Contractor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily fit-out and refurbishment activities across site.
• Lead and coordinate carpenters, labourers and subcontracted trades.
• Assist with carpentry and fit-out works when required.
• Manage joinery, drywall and internal finishing works effectively.
• Ensure works progress in line with agreed programmes.
• Maintain excellent standards of workmanship and site quality.
• Coordinate materials, labour and daily site requirements effectively.
• Work closely with Project and Site Management teams.

Requirements

• Strong trade background within carpentry and joinery essential.
• Excellent knowledge of drywall and internal fit-out works.
• Previous Foreman or supervisory experience within construction preferred.
• Comfortable remaining hands-on and assisting works when required.
• Experience within Irish or UK construction market required.
• Confident leading carpenters, labourers and other site trades.
• Strong eye for detail and quality workmanship.
• Keen to develop a long-term career with contractor.
