Pipe Fitter Location: Grand Rapids, MI Shift: 1st shift Pay: $18/Hour Are you experienced with pipe fitting, pneumatic systems, and custom machinery? We're seeking a Pipe Fitter to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position involves building and installing pneumatic and water systems on custom tooling, automated machinery, and robotic cells. What You'll Be DoingAs a Pipe Fitter, your core responsibilities will include:Pipe system installation: Build and install pneumatic and water systems on custom tooling, automated machinery, and robotic cells. Pipe fabrication: Cut, bend, thread, and install black pipe and PVC headers according to engineering drawings and system layouts. Pneumatic systems: Assemble pneumatic systems, including valve and manifold banks, according to drawings and specifications. Water air lines: Run water and air lines to robots, tooling, and other equipment. Engineering drawings: Configure pipe systems according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and system layouts. Equipment operation: Safely operate saws, pipe threading machines, and cutting equipment as required. Workload management: Prioritize work orders and manage workload to keep projects moving efficiently. Project completion: Help ensure projects are completed on time and within the required scope. Quality compliance: Ensure work is performed consistently and according to applicable codes, company policies, and procedures. Customer installation: Assist with onsite installation of equipment at customer facilities when required. Safety: Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. What We're Looking ForQualifications2–5 years of experience with an understanding of the automation industry. Experience reading and interpreting work instructions and pneumatic blueprints. Knowledge of industry-standard pneumatic components such as Parker, SMC, and Festo. Knowledge of water cooling circuits used for welding systems. Experience using hand tools, saws, pipe cutting equipment, and pipe threading equipment. Knowledge of pilot-operated checks (PO Checks) and valve configurations. Knowledge of filter regulators. Knowledge of different thread types, including NPT, straight, British, and G-thread. Knowledge of different valve styles and flow controls. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to use common-sense understanding when performing job duties. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when cutting, bending, and installing pipe systems. SkillsPipe fitting: Skilled in cutting, bending, threading, and installing pipe systems. Pneumatic systems: Understanding of pneumatic components, valves, manifolds, flow controls, and regulators. Blueprint reading: Able to interpret pneumatic blueprints, engineering drawings, and system layouts. Attention to detail: Precise when measuring, cutting, bending, and installing piping. Problem solving: Able to identify issues with pipe and pneumatic systems and determine appropriate solutions. Organization: Able to prioritize work orders and manage multiple project requirements. Safety: Understands the importance of following safety procedures and applicable codes. Teamwork: Works effectively with team members and other departments to complete projects.
