Mergent Recruitment is seeking experienced HDPE Polywelders for an upcoming FIFO project at BHP Olympic Dam, South Australia.

Working on the Alternative Backfill Delivery Project, successful candidates will be involved in the installation and welding of approximately 20km of HDPE pipeline infrastructure, including both underground and above-ground works within a major mining environment.

With immediate starts available, this is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project with the potential for ongoing work.

The Opportunity

  • FIFO to BHP Olympic Dam, SA
  • Alternative Backfill Delivery Project
  • Immediate start available
  • Initial project duration of 6–8 weeks with potential extension up to 3 months
  • 2:1 or 3:1 roster
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Camp accommodation and meals provided
  • FIFO available for interstate candidates
  • 6 positions available

Key Responsibilities

  • Butt fusion and electrofusion welding of HDPE pipework
  • Construction, installation and maintenance, of underground and above-ground pipeline systems
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Conducting quality checks and ensuring compliance with project requirements
  • Maintaining safe work practices in a mining environment

Essential Requirements

  • Nationally Accredited Polywelding Qualification:
    • PMBWELD301B – Butt Weld Polyethylene Plastic Pipelines
    • PMBWELD302B – Electrofusion Weld Polyethylene Pipelines
  • Proven experience working as an HDPE Polywelder
  • Experience within mining, industrial, water infrastructure, or pipeline construction projects
  • Current Working at Heights ticket
  • Current Confined Space ticket
  • White Card
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol Screen
  • National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)

Highly Regarded

  • Previous BHP or Olympic Dam site experience
  • Large-scale pipeline infrastructure experience
  • Experience working on remote FIFO projects
