Project Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established civil construction business delivering infrastructure projects across New Zealand. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a background in contract management, project delivery, or estimating who is ready to grow their leadership career. Working alongside experienced Project Managers, youll play a key role in project delivery while developing towards a Contractors Representative position

About The Company

With over 40 years of experience, this NZ owned business has grown into one of New Zealands leading civil engineering and precast concrete specialists.

Their expertise spans heavy civil construction, including bridges, reservoirs, buildings, culverts, and commercial and industrial concrete works. Supported by a modern fleet of trucks, cranes, and construction machinery, they have the capability, experience, and resources to deliver complex projects safely and to a high standard.

The Role

As Project Engineer, youll be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of civil construction projects from planning through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating and managing day-to-day site activities
• Administering contracts, including reporting and Notices to Engineer (NTEs)
• Managing subcontractors, suppliers, and site resources
• Monitoring project programmes, budgets, and commercial performance
• Working closely with site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard
• Maintaining a strong on-site presence and building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders

About You

To be successful in this role, youll bring:

• 5 to 10 years experience within civil construction or infrastructure projects preferred
• Experience in contract management, estimating, or project delivery
• A relevant qualification such as NZCE, Diploma, or Bachelor of Engineering
• Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
• Commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and project management software
• A strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental best practice
• Flexibility to travel and work on projects throughout New Zealand as required

Location
