A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN). The following high-level requirements describe the Principal Systems Engineer (SE) role at A10 Networks. This is a highly demanding role in that A10 requires very high caliber engineering resources, together with commercial pre-sales acumen to drive success within the sales environment. Note that some of these responsibilities may vary by seniority and region covered.
Requirements:
10+ years of Pre-Sales and Hands-on Application Security and Network experience and expertise. Typically educated to Degree / HND level or equivalent.
A principal systems engineer will have the following core responsibilities:
- Work closely with commercial sales team members to meet quarterly revenue goals.
- Technically qualify sales opportunities.
- Provide technical support to the sales organization.
- Drive preference for A10’s solutions with both end-user and channel partners
- Deliver compelling Proof of Concept (PoC) and solution demonstrations to key prospects
- Deliver high quality technical training to channel partners and customers as and when needed.
- As and when required, provide analysis and input on feature requests required by customers and help qualify the value, timescales and win probability of having such features in the product.
- Maintain high levels of training on current product features and the competitive products and solutions
- Assist post sales/TAC in diagnosing and mitigating issues with key customers as and when required
Additionally, an PSE will have the following responsibilities:
- Act as design authority on projects if required
- Provide high quality accurate status reporting to senior management.
- Present A10 solutions to business leaders and technical audiences
- Assist writing application notes and technical documents.
- Communicate market trends and requirements.
- Assist in interview processes for new candidates if required
- Act professionally at all times and in accordance with A10 policies and procedures
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Must have in-depth knowledge in at least two areas of specialisation in Application Delivery Controllers, NextGen firewalls, Virtualization and Orchestration, Network Security
- Must have prior knowledge of Layer-4-7 protocols and technologies such as HTTP, DNS, SSL, Caching, and Compression.
- In-depth knowledge and strong operating experience in at least one of the following areas: Enterprise Applications, DevOps tools, routing and switching.
- Must be comfortable with traffic generation tools from Ixia, Spirent or others
- Programming skills in a modern scripting language is highly desired
- Prior experience with a virtualized environment and hypervisors is a plus
Non-Technical Skills:
- Language Requirement: Local Language and English
- Written: Must be able to write proposals and RFP responses with high quality and interact with customers and partners as appropriate
- Verbal: Must be able to articulate complex technical concepts
- Interpersonal: Ability to forge new, strong business relationships
- Presentation: Customer facing presentations
- Responsibility: Take ownership of issues and drive resolution
- Time management skills.
