Core Responsibilities for Reach Truck
- Equipment Operation: Safely drive and maneuver stand-up reach trucks in narrow aisles (often 8–10 feet wide) to lift and retrieve pallets at heights of 30 to 45 feet.
- Inventory Management: Use Radio Frequency (RF) scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track inventory, verify product numbers, perform cycle counts, and stage pallets.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and load freight onto trucks for shipment, ensuring high levels of accuracy and minimal product damage.
- Safety & Upkeep: Perform pre-shift equipment inspections, maintain a clean workspace (often following 5S lean principles), and immediately report hazards to supervisors.
- Typical Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: Mandatory Reach Truck Operator Certification (or ability to become certified) compliant with OSHA standards.
- Experience: 6 months to 2+ years of warehouse or manufacturing experience involving reach truck or heavy equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities for Warehouse Lumper
- Loading/Unloading: Manually moving cargo, packages, and freight in and out of trailers and shipping containers.
- Palletizing & Sorting: Breaking down mixed freight, organizing items by SKU or PO, and shrink-wrapping pallets.
- Equipment Operation: Using manual pallet jacks, motorized jacks, and occasionally forklifts.
- Quality & Verification: Inspecting deliveries for damage and verifying shipment contents against manifests.
- Safety & Upkeep: Sweeping dock areas, removing debris, and adhering strictly to warehouse safety rules.
- Physical Requirements
- Heavy Lifting: Capability to continuously lift, push, and carry heavy loads (frequently 50+ lbs) throughout the shift.
- Endurance: Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Environment Resilience: Working in fast-paced environments that may include extreme heat, cold, or loud machinery noise.
