The Role
Reporting to the National Operations & Laboratory Manager, the Account Manager is the central link between SSP's referrers, laboratory operations, Business Development Managers, and leadership team. This is a unique role that combines customer relationship management, stakeholder coordination, business development support, and service improvement.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring referrers receive an exceptional experience while helping to identify and develop new growth opportunities for the business. Working onsite in the Sydney laboratory, you will collaborate closely with the National Lab Manager and BDM to strengthen referrer relationships and support business growth across the network.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Referrer Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for external referrers, building and maintaining strong relationships with referring doctors, practice managers, and clinic staff
- Ensure referrer enquiries, issues, and feedback are managed promptly and professionally
- Coordinate communication between referrers, laboratory teams, and management to ensure seamless service delivery
CRM Management & Sales Coordination
- Maintain and manage the CRM system (Zoho), ensuring customer interactions, opportunities, contacts, and activities are accurately recorded and up to date
- Support Business Development Managers by coordinating sales activities, follow-up actions, and customer engagement initiatives
- Provide reporting and insights on referrer activity, opportunities, and trends
Stakeholder Engagement & Service Improvement
- Work collaboratively across laboratory, operations, logistics, client services, and management teams
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the referrer experience and customer journey
- Coordinate resolution of service issues and monitor customer feedback to recommend initiatives that enhance satisfaction and retention
Business Development Support
- Identify potential new referrers and growth opportunities within target markets
- Conduct outreach to prospective referrers and coordinate introductions with the Business Development team
- Support onboarding of new referrers to ensure a smooth transition to SSP services
- Assist in implementing strategies to grow referral volumes and strengthen market presence
Educational Events & Marketing Support
- Coordinate educational evenings, professional development sessions, conferences, and networking events, managing logistics and post-event follow-up
- Work with internal stakeholders to promote SSP services and educational offerings
- Assist with marketing campaigns and promotional activities aimed at strengthening referrer engagement
Your Profile

You will be a natural communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, customer-focused environment and brings genuine enthusiasm for the healthcare sector.
Candidates may come from a range of backgrounds including:
- Account management, customer relationship management, or client services
- Healthcare liaison, medical sales, or business development support
- Pathology, medical devices, diagnostics, or related health services
You will demonstrate:
- Experience in account management, CRM management, or customer relationship roles
- Strong CRM and database management skills, with a track record of accurate, up-to-date record keeping
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric, relationship-driven approach
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities across laboratory, operations, and business development teams
- Strong organisational and administrative capabilities with excellent attention to detail
- Proactive, solution-focused, and highly collaborative with a passion for continuous improvement
Experience within healthcare, pathology, medical devices, or related industries will be highly regarded.
