The Tweed Tourism Company | Tweed Shire Council
Deliver signature events and attract high-value destination events to one of Australia's most naturally beautiful destinations.
Davidson is proud to be partnering with Tweed Shire Council to appoint a Destination Events Officer to help shape and deliver the event-led visitor economy of The Tweed.
Opportunities like this in places like The Tweed don't come around often.
The Tweed is one of Australia's most desirable destinations, positioned between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay where extraordinary natural assets, thriving communities and a strong visitor economy create exceptional opportunities for sustainable growth.
As a multi-award-winning destination with a clear vision for event-led growth, this role offers a unique blend of signature event delivery, event attraction and strategic partnership development.
The Opportunity
Tweed Shire Council is establishing a new team to lead The Tweed Tourism Company, a contemporary, in-house visitor economy service responsible for growing the region's reputation, visitation and economic impact.
We are seeking a Destination Events Officer to deliver Council's two signature destination events and attract a pipeline of right-fit events aligned to The Tweed Events Strategy.
Reporting to the Visitor Economy Lead, you will play a central role in delivering The Tweed's event-led visitor economy outcomes. You will coordinate signature event delivery, attract and support destination events, prepare bids and hosting packages, and build opportunities across MICE, business, sporting and cultural events. The role also oversees destination event sponsorships, grants and partnerships through to acquittal and reporting.
Importantly, this is an event attraction, partnership and delivery role, not an event approvals role. The position focuses on destination events rather than community or homegrown events and works closely with Council's Events, Sponsorship and Filming Officer regarding approvals, risk and governance requirements on public land.
Your Legacy
- Deliver Council's two signature destination events Savour the Tweed and the emerging Arts & Culture flagship achieving strong visitor, economic and place outcomes.
- Build and manage a destination event attraction pipeline, coordinating bids, proposals, site inspections and hosting packages across MICE, business, sporting and cultural events.
- Administer destination event sponsorships, grants and partnerships, including agreements, compliance, reporting and acquittals.
- Leverage The Tweed brand and Tourism Company channels to maximise event visibility, audience engagement and destination impact, including maintaining priority content on What's On Tweed.
- Coordinate destination wedding attraction initiatives with local venues and operators to further position The Tweed as a leading wedding destination.
About You
- You are an experienced events professional with strong end-to-end event delivery experience and a clear understanding of the role events play in driving visitation and destination growth.
- You bring demonstrated experience delivering large-scale or destination events, including planning, supplier management, budgeting, risk management and post-event evaluation.
- You have experience preparing bids, proposals and hosting packages to secure business, sporting, cultural or MICE events.
- You are a confident relationship builder, able to work collaboratively with event organisers, venues, tourism operators, sponsors, government stakeholders and precinct partners.
- You have experience administering grants, sponsorships and partnership agreements, with strong attention to compliance, contracts and reporting requirements.
- You understand how destination brands, event calendars and marketing channels can be leveraged to maximise event reach, audience engagement and return on investment.
Why This Role?
Opportunities to deliver and attract destination events in places like The Tweed are rare.
As part of a newly established and collaborative team, you will help shape the future of one of Australia's most desirable destinations. This role offers a rewarding mix of event delivery, attraction, stakeholder engagement and partnership development, while providing the opportunity to contribute to signature events, grow a pipeline of high-value destination events, and strengthen The Tweed's position as a leading place to visit, stay and celebrate.
