About the Opportunity Our client is delivering a major renewable energy and transmission infrastructure program across Western Australia and is seeking an experienced SCADA & Controls Engineer to support the design, development and commissioning of critical control systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale power generation, transmission and renewable energy projects, including substations, battery energy storage systems and renewable generation facilities. About the Opportunity Our client is delivering a major renewable energy and transmission infrastructure program across Western Australia and is seeking an experienced SCADA & Controls Engineer to support the design, development and commissioning of critical control systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale power generation, transmission and renewable energy projects, including substations, battery energy storage systems and renewable generation facilities. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated control solutions that support the delivery of complex energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop SCADA and control system architectures.
- Configure RTUs, HMI systems, SCADA platforms and communication networks.
- Develop functional design specifications and technical documentation.
- Support system integration across substations, renewable generation and energy infrastructure assets.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning activities.
- Prepare commissioning procedures and acceptance testing documentation.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support during project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with project standards, quality requirements and industry best practices.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, technology and project delivery teams.
- Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems, Mechatronics Engineering or similar.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within power utilities, renewable energy or industrial control systems.
- Strong experience with SCADA, RTU, HMI and control system development.
- Experience in substation automation and/or power generation control systems.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, DNP3, IEC104 and IEC61850.
- Experience developing Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
- Understanding of network architecture, routing, switching and secure communications.
- Exposure to IEC61131 programming languages and industrial cybersecurity principles highly regarded.
- Experience with renewable energy, battery storage or inverter-based control systems advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders and project disciplines.
