Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our clients Plastics Division in Elmira NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with hands-on CNC experience and strong programming capabilities to play an important role in producing high-quality plastic components.

The ideal candidate will have practical machining experience, including CNC programming, machine setup, fixturing, and operation of 3- and 4-axis CNC equipment. Experience with Mastercam or similar CAD/CAM software is required.

1st shift: 7 to 3
Pay $22-$35 based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC machines and CNC routers.
  • Develop and modify CNC programs using Mastercam or similar CAD/CAM software.
  • Perform machine setup, tooling, fixturing, and adjustments.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimize quality, feeds, speeds, and overall efficiency.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues as needed.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with maintaining equipment in proper working condition.
  • Safely operate secondary tool room equipment, including table saws, band saws, drill presses, and related equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • CNC programming experience.
  • Practical machine shop/machining experience.
  • Experience programming with Mastercam or comparable CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience setting up and operating 3- and 4-axis CNC machines and/or CNC routers.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with fixturing, tooling, and machine setup.
  • Ability to operate common secondary tool room equipment.
  • 2-year college degree, technical degree, or equivalent technical training preferred/required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
