The Role
Reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager and working closely with the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the hands-on leadership of the site maintenance team in a high-care, high-volume production environment of approximately 200 staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, developing and scheduling the maintenance team to support production targets
- Managing the servicing, repair and modification of plant and equipment to a safe and operational standard
- Developing and driving preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximise uptime and reliability
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with food safety, hygiene and high-care standards (HACCP, GMP and customer requirements)
- Partnering with Operations, Quality and Safety teams to support audits, compliance and continuous improvement
- Managing maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, contractors and capital projects
- Championing a continuous improvement culture focused on plant efficiency, effectiveness and reliability
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Dual-trade qualification (electrical/mechanical) or relevant engineering degree
- Proven experience leading a maintenance team within a food manufacturing or similar FMCG process environment, ideally high-care
- Aptitude to maintain complex process and packaging equipment involving automation and PLC controls
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements as they relate to plant and equipment
- Strong people management and leadership skills, with a commitment to developing team capability and performance
- Experience with CMMS and preventative maintenance systems
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills with a high mechanical aptitude
- Good understanding of enterprise agreements and a strong safety-first mindset
