The hospital
This busy regional hospital provides a broad range of acute and community-based services, including:

• Emergency Medicine
• General Medicine and Surgery
• Maternity and Obstetrics
• Paediatrics
• Mental Health
• Allied Health and community services

You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and work closely with the Director of Emergency Medicine to deliver safe, responsive and patient-focused emergency care.
The new Emergency Department represents a significant investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure and offers the successful doctor the rare opportunity to help shape clinical systems, workforce development and models of care from the ground up.

The role
You will:

• Provide high-quality, safe and timely emergency medical care
• Help develop and implement contemporary Emergency Department models of care
• Support the Director with clinical, strategic and operational leadership
• Participate in the department’s 24-hour on-call roster
• Lead and contribute to clinical governance, accreditation, audit and quality improvement
• Supervise and mentor specialist trainees, junior doctors and medical students
• Deliver education to medical, nursing and allied health professionals
• Support doctors progressing towards FACEM and FACRRM
• Provide clinical support to surrounding regional services, including through Telehealth
• Encourage innovation and service improvements that enhance patient outcomes
• Contribute to research, professional development and clinical review

Some work across other facilities within the broader regional health service may be required according to operational needs and facility capability.

Who should apply?
Applications are encouraged from:

• FACEM-qualified Emergency Physicians
• IMGS specialist assessed as substantially comparable

Senior Medical Officer
Applicants must have:

• Completion of the ACEM Fellowship Written Examination, with an expectation of meeting the remaining essential requirements within the next six months

Postgraduate qualifications relevant to generalist hospital practice will be highly regarded, including:

• FACRRM
• FRACGP
• Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine
• Advanced Skills Training in Generalist Medicine
• Appointment level will be determined according to qualifications, registration status, specialist recognition and experience.

Remuneration and benefits
A total remuneration package of up to $652,478 per annum
