Contract Pay Rate: $70-110.00 based on experience

This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundational AI architecture for a large-scale, enterprise technology platform used across some of the world's most demanding environments.

Responsibilities of the Artificial intelligence & Machine learning Developer / Architect Job in Milwaukee, WI:

• Collaborate daily with Controls Software engineers, architects, and product managers as a fully embedded team member
• Operate with principal-level autonomy, driving architecture decisions and validating assumptions iteratively
• Produce clear, durable deliverables, reference architectures, decision records, and deployment playbooks
• Participate in agile ceremonies: standups, design reviews, and retrospectives
• Run technical workshops and design sessions as needed

Qualifications of the Artificial intelligence & Machine learning Developer / Architect Job in Milwaukee, WI:

• 10+ years of software or systems engineering experience with at least 6 years focused on AI/ML in production environments
• Proven experience designing and deploying AI/ML systems at scale from data ingestion through inference and monitoring
• Deep MLOps knowledge including model deployment pipelines, versioning, observability, drift detection, and continuous improvement
• Experience with edge-to-cloud AI execution strategies balancing latency, cost, and resiliency across distributed environments
• Strong command of data pipeline architecture, time-series data, event-driven systems, and API/microservices patterns

• Hands-on experience architecting production GenAI applications across multiple LLM providers including Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and open-source models
• Deep knowledge of RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding pipelines, and retrieval strategies at production scale
• Experience with agentic architectures, multi-agent orchestration, and tool-calling patterns including MCP
• LLM observability and tracing experience using tools like LangSmith, LangFuse, or OpenTelemetry
• Ability to produce clear, durable architecture artifacts engineers can execute

• Comfortable in an embedded team model with the ability to give and receive direct technical feedback
• Capable of running technical workshops and design sessions when needed

Preferred Qualifications of the Artificial intelligence & Machine learning Developer / Architect Job in Milwaukee, WI:

• Experience in industrial, OT, or IoT environments
• Familiarity with protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, or OPC UA
• Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks in OT environments such as IEC 62443 or NIST CSF
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD tooling, and observability platforms
