Neurosurgery NP/PA | Tuscaloosa, AL – Surgical Support + Inpatient & Clinic Role

A collaborative, physician-directed neurosurgery practice in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is seeking a full-time, experienced Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its outpatient and inpatient clinical team supporting neurosurgical care across multiple clinic locations.

Position Highlights:

• Work in a collaborative neurosurgery practice alongside experienced neurosurgeons and clinical staff
• Provide comprehensive patient evaluations including histories, physicals, and diagnostic assessment planning
• Support both clinic-based care and inpatient rounding for neurosurgical patients
• Assist with and perform procedures under physician supervision, within scope of practice
• Participate in after-hours call rotation supporting neurosurgical patients
• Contribute to care coordination, documentation, and medication management in partnership with supervising physicians
• Engage in patient and family education, counseling, and care planning
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and performance programs

Responsibilities:

• Perform patient evaluations and develop care plans in collaboration with neurosurgeons
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic testing within established protocols
• Assist in surgical and invasive procedures under physician supervision
• Manage inpatient rounding, documentation, and ongoing treatment planning
• Prescribe medications per collaborative agreement and clinical protocols
• Maintain accurate medical records and medication reconciliation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and clinical best practices

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Active Alabama license (CRNP or PA-C) with required collaborative agreement
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
• Neurosurgery or critical care experience preferred
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical and inpatient setting
• Willingness to participate in call rotation
• Ability to meet physical demands of clinical practice (standing, walking, lifting, emergency response)
• Comfort working in environments with potential exposure to infectious materials and standard clinical hazards using appropriate precautions
