We are seeking a driven and strategic Account Specialist (Marketing & Communications) to support our growing energy development business. In this client-facing role, you will help our development team tell a compelling story in communities across the country, advancing the permitting and construction of wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Drawing on the full spectrum of communications disciplines (messaging, media relations, research, advertising, events, and digital) you will be instrumental in shaping public and stakeholder perception. This position requires travel, including airline travel and driving to events. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and confident writer with a strategic mindset and a genuine passion for the clean energy sector.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage and support a variety of projects within the Communications department. Key responsibilities include:
Essential Job Duties and Functions
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans, key messages, programs, and campaigns aligned to business objectives, using research and analytics to inform approach.
- Create visual and written content for internal and external channels, including newsletters, social media, digital platforms, and video.
- Partner with internal business units to provide communications strategy guidance, executive support, and project management for campaigns and cross-functional initiatives.
- Serve as liaison for assigned business units, managing relationships and ensuring communications needs are met with minimal direction from senior leadership.
- Draft media statements and press releases, respond to media inquiries, and act as a spokesperson as required — including out-of-hours media duty.
- Proactively cultivate media relationships and identify opportunities to amplify the company's story and mission.
- Support the planning and cross-functional execution of community and corporate events.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communications campaigns and tactics, using results to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide communications support during emergency events as assigned.
- Travel as required, including by air and by car, to communities and events across the country.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong editorial eye and ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a high degree of independence and organisation.
- Experience across communications disciplines including media relations, digital/social media, content creation, and event management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across internal teams, media, and community stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to connect communications activity to broader business goals.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel by air and road on a regular basis.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; preferred disciplines include Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or English.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant communications experience.
