About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the migration of enterprise data from IBM DB2 platforms to an Azure-based SQL database environment. The role will be responsible for assessing migration approaches, designing and implementing data migration solutions, developing ETL/ELT pipelines, validating data quality, and ensuring the successful transition of critical business data to the Azure ecosystem.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, application teams, infrastructure teams, and project delivery teams to deliver a scalable, secure, and performant cloud-based data platform.

About You

Required Experience

• 7+ years of Data Engineering experience.
• Proven experience migrating enterprise databases to Azure.
• Experience with DB2 to SQL Server or Azure SQL migrations.
• Experience delivering large-scale data migration projects.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Experience implementing automated deployment and testing practices.
• Experience working within Agile project delivery environments.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Experience with Azure Synapse or Fabric.
• Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) tools.
• Knowledge of data governance and security frameworks
• Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
• Familiarity with Data Vault or modern data warehouse methodologies.
