The Opportunity
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Project/Construction Manager to take a lead client-side delivery role on a major, high-value data centre development in Queensland.
 
Working with a global project and programme management consultancy, you will be embedded within the client team and act as a senior representative on the ground, providing oversight across the developer, head contractor and wider delivery team.
 
This is not a traditional coordination-focused Project Manager position. You will be expected to understand what is happening on site, challenge programme and contractor performance, identify risks early and ensure the client has clear visibility across delivery.
 
The role is offered on a FIFO/DIDO basis, with flexibility around where you are based for the right candidate.
 
The Role
You will provide senior oversight throughout construction and play a key role in protecting programme, quality and critical milestones.
 
Key responsibilities will include:

• Representing the client throughout construction delivery
• Providing oversight across the developer and head contractor
• Leading regular site reviews and developer meetings
• Monitoring programme, milestones and critical path
• Identifying delays, blockers and delivery risks before they impact the client
• Challenging contractor performance and driving accountability
• Identifying acceleration and programme recovery opportunities
• Managing interfaces across GC, electrical and mechanical contractors
• Monitoring MEP, services and commissioning activities
• Ensuring works are inspection and milestone ready
• Providing clear reporting around programme, risk, actions and recovery strategies
• Maintaining strong relationships across client, developer, contractor and consultant teams

About You
This position requires someone with genuine construction delivery experience who is comfortable operating at a senior level within a complex, fast-moving project environment.
 
Ideally, you will bring:

• Approximately 10-15+ years' project/construction delivery experience
• Strong data centre or mission-critical project experience
• Head Contractor / General Contractor background highly regarded
• Strong understanding of construction methodology and site delivery
• Experience across MEP, building services and commissioning
• Strong programme and critical path management capability
• Experience identifying and implementing programme recovery strategies
• Ability to challenge senior contractors and developers constructively
• Strong commercial and risk awareness
• Confidence operating as a senior client representative
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or similar

Candidates from a consultancy background will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong technical and mission-critical project delivery experience.
