Salary: €45k - €75k DOE
Gi Group Ireland is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading and well-established construction contractor for the position of Site Engineer based in Westport, Co. Mayo.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineering professional to join a growing project team delivering a high-profile construction development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with the site management team, you will gain valuable exposure to all stages of project delivery while contributing to the successful execution of a large-scale construction project.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out, surveying, and site measurements in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support the Site Manager and wider project team with the coordination and day-to-day management of site activities.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure works are completed efficiently and to programme.
- Monitor construction progress and report on key milestones and potential issues.
- Assist in maintaining accurate site records, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality standards are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety procedures on site.
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve technical or operational challenges as they arise.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of project objectives, timelines, and quality expectations.
Candidate Requirements
- 2–6 years' experience in a Site Engineer, Junior Engineer, or similar engineering role within the construction sector.
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working on construction projects in Ireland.
- Strong understanding of setting out procedures and construction methodologies.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced site environment while maintaining attention to detail.
