Basic Grade Occupational Therapist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and compassionate Basic Grade Occupational Therapist to join a well-established multidisciplinary team within a specialist inpatient mental health service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist looking to develop their career in adult mental health while working in a supportive environment that values evidence-based practice, professional development, and collaborative care.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, working with adults presenting with severe and enduring mental illness, neuropsychiatric conditions, and complex care needs. You will play an integral role in supporting service users to maximise their independence, participation, and quality of life through recovery-focused interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated Occupational Therapy caseload within the inpatient service.
  • Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and develop person-centred intervention plans.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based therapeutic programmes tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team to establish meaningful rehabilitation goals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, care planning and discharge planning.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
  • Ensure practice complies with CORU standards, professional guidelines and all relevant legislation.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

The Person

The successful candidate will have:

  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • A minimum of 6 months' post-registration clinical experience.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland (AOTI).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Good knowledge of healthcare legislation, clinical governance and professional standards.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • A collaborative, compassionate and recovery-focused approach to patient care.
