Product Development Manager

Rather than simply selling products developed by others, they create their own market-leading private label ranges, developing solutions that solve genuine customer problems and continually raise the bar. With ambitious growth plans and exciting new product categories on the horizon, they're now looking for an experienced Product Development Manager to help shape what's next.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and supported by a Product Coordinator, you'll lead the company's private label Product Development function.

Working to your strengths, you'll:

• Work alongside manufacturers throughout China as well as engineers and technical specialists to transform ideas into commercially successful products.
• You won't be designing products yourself—but you'll own the process of bringing them to life. From concept development and supplier collaboration through to prototyping, compliance, manufacturing, commercial launch and continuous improvement, you'll own the entire development journey.
• Today, the CEO leads much of the innovation roadmap. Tomorrow, the vision is that you will. So initially you will work alongside the CEO before progressively taking greater ownership of future product strategy, innovation and new product categories as you build your understanding of the business, customers and market.

Who We're Looking For:
You're the sort of person who gets excited by solving problems, loves improving products and enjoys working closely with manufacturers and naturally asks, 'What if we did it this way?' You enjoy wearing multiple hats and being involved in the complete journey—not just one piece of it. You also have:

• Proven end-to-end Product Development experience from concept through to commercialisation.
• Experience working closely with manufacturers throughout China.
• Professional fluency in both Mandarin and English (spoken and written) is essential.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• A commercially minded, hands-on approach and genuine curiosity.

Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

• Electrical products
• Lighting or emergency lighting
• Product testing, certification and regulatory compliance
• Fire and life safety products
• Industrial or engineered products
• Consumer electronics, hardware or appliances
• Product lifecycle management

A qualification in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing (or similar) will be highly regarded, however we're equally interested in experienced Product Development professionals who've built their expertise through hands-on industry experience.
