Position Summary
The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Project Manager will support the client in the implementation of Rhode Island's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) and its portfolio of 13 approved initiatives.
- The Project Manager will provide hands-on project management and implementation support across the RHTP portfolio, working closely with leadership, Interdepartmental Project Managers, liaisons, project leads, state agencies, subrecipients, contractors, and other program partners.
- The Project Manager will support the coordination and execution of RHTP activities by maintaining project plans and implementation trackers, monitoring milestones and deliverables, coordinating across partners, identifying risks and barriers, and helping ensure that work remains aligned with approved RHTP plans, timelines, budgets, and federal requirements.
- This position will work closely with the two Interdepartmental Project Managers, who provide senior-level project leadership and coordination across the RHTP portfolio. Together, the Project Managers will provide coordinated project management capacity across the 13 RHTP initiatives and cross-cutting program activities.
- The RHTP Project Manager will have a particular focus on day-to-day implementation, project coordination, follow-up, documentation, and execution, while working collaboratively with the Interdepartmental Project Managers and initiative leads.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple initiatives and organizations, managing competing priorities, coordinating complex workstreams, and translating high-level program goals into clear work plans, action items, timelines, and deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support implementation of activities across all 13 RHTP initiatives and related cross-cutting program activities.
- Work closely with the two Interdepartmental Project Managers and initiative leads to develop, maintain, and update project work plans, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and implementation trackers.
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation activities across the client, state agencies, subrecipients, contractors, and other RHTP partners.
- Support coordination across initiatives where activities, partners, timelines, or deliverables are interdependent.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks, barriers, delays, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Track action items and follow up with initiative leads and partners to support timely completion of milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate and support project meetings, including developing agendas, documenting decisions and action items, and following up on outstanding items.
- Help ensure that activities across the RHTP portfolio remain aligned with approved initiative plans, budgets, milestones, and federal program requirements.
- Assist initiative leads and program leadership with monitoring project budgets, procurement activities, contracts, and other implementation requirements, as appropriate.
- Support the collection, organization, and documentation of information needed for RHTP reporting, including progress toward milestones, deliverables, expenditures, and performance measures.
- Assist with preparation of RHTP reports, presentations, briefing materials, dashboards, project updates, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
- Help identify and elevate issues that require leadership attention and support timely resolution of implementation barriers.
- Support technical assistance, procurement, contracting, community engagement, and other cross-cutting activities as assigned.
- Maintain organized project documentation and ensure that key decisions, deliverables, and implementation activities are appropriately documented.
- Support the continued development and improvement of RHTP project management processes, tools, trackers, and workflows.
- Perform other project management and implementation duties necessary to support successful delivery of the RHTP's 13-initiative portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing or coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, organizations, or workstreams.
- Experience supporting implementation of public sector, healthcare, public health, behavioral health, human services, or community-based programs is preferred.
- Experience working across multiple projects or initiatives with competing timelines and priorities.
- Strong organizational, project management, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify issues proactively, follow through on action items, and communicate risks and barriers clearly.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across multiple teams and organizations.
- Experience working in a government, healthcare, or other highly regulated environment is desirable.
- Experience with project management software, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and other project tracking tools.
- Familiarity with federal grants management, procurement, contracting, or program reporting is desirable.
