An established regional health service on Tasmania’s spectacular coast is seeking experienced Specialists in Emergency Medicine and appropriately qualified Rural Generalists with advanced Emergency Medicine skills.

Multiple permanent full-time and part-time appointments are available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, with shift work and on-call participation.

The Opportunity
You will work across two well-supported Emergency Departments located approximately 50 kilometres apart, together managing around 60,000 presentations annually.
The larger site serves as the regional trauma centre and is supported by:
  • General Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Paediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Intensive Care
  • Mental Health services
  • 24-hour pathology
  • 24-hour on-call radiology
  • Virtual stroke telemedicine services
Each department has a structured medical workforce comprising Specialists, Registrars and Resident Medical Officers rostered to every shift.

Training and Accreditation
The service offers a strong teaching environment with accreditation for:
  • 24 months of ACEM Emergency Medicine training
  • RACGP Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine
  • ACRRM Advanced Specialised Training in Emergency Medicine
  • ACEM Associateship training at Foundational, Intermediate and Advanced levels
The department supports trainees from ACEM, RACGP and ACRRM, with several FACEM-accredited supervisors available across the service.

Salary packages up to $550k plus
Depending on eligibility, additional benefits may include:

Essential Eligibility
Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.

  • FACEM-qualified Emergency Physicians
  • Suitably experienced RACGP or ACRRM Fellows with advanced Emergency Medicine qualifications
  • International Emergency Medicine Specialists who have completed the ACEM specialist assessment process with substantial comparability outcome
