Key Responsibilities
Commercial, Financial & Budgeting
- Prepare monthly financial and cost reports, including P&L, reconciliations, variance analysis and budget reporting.
- Prepare and manage project claims and invoices, ensuring accurate substantiation and documentation.
- Maintain variation registers and monitor financial impacts, approvals and outstanding actions.
- Review subcontractor and supplier claims, invoices and supporting documentation.
- Monitor debtors, creditors, work in progress and overall project cash position.
- Prepare cashflow and cost-to-complete forecasts and identify emerging financial risks.
- Track contingency usage and report against approved project budgets.
- Escalate significant cost, cashflow or financial risks promptly.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting and project close-out activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, finance teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
- Support client discussions regarding claims, certifications and financial matters.
- Resolve or escalate financial issues promptly and professionally.
- Contribute financial information and risk commentary to regular project and leadership reviews.
- Review the financial aspects of contracts, agreements and supplier arrangements.
- Ensure financial reporting and processes comply with relevant legislation, contractual obligations and governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, controls and processes.
- Identify and report financial risks, liabilities and discrepancies.
- Monitor contract-related financial concerns and support appropriate risk mitigation.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years’ experience in project, cost or financial accounting, preferably within construction.
- Knowledge of residential or commercial construction processes is highly desirable.
- Understanding of commercial, contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with relevant financial systems and technology.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and planning skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
