Senior Financial Analyst

The Organisation
  
An established Queensland based organisation is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Brisbane team.
  
Operating in a complex, highly regulated environment, the organisation works closely with a broad network of stakeholders and government bodies. Its finance function plays an important role in the administration of significant funding programs, financial governance and providing analysis that supports informed decision-making.
  
This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible position with exposure to senior leadership, external stakeholders and complex financial matters.

  
The Role
  
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will lead a small specialist team and take ownership of financial analysis, modelling and the administration of significant funding programs.
  
This is not a traditional accounting role. You'll spend much of your time understanding complex financial information, building and maintaining models, interpreting funding arrangements and providing advice to stakeholders.
  
You'll also manage and develop a Financial Analyst, while working closely with senior leaders across the organisation.
  
Key responsibilities include:

• Developing financial models and analysis to support funding and strategic decision-making
• Managing the financial administration of significant funding programs
• Preparing funding models, calculations and supporting documentation
• Monitoring financial compliance against relevant agreements and requirements
• Providing financial insight and advice to the Head of Finance and senior stakeholders
• Supporting budgeting, financial planning and broader organisational analysis
• Reviewing financial and operational information to identify trends and areas requiring attention
• Building strong relationships with external finance stakeholders and government-related bodies
• Improving processes, procedures and controls surrounding funding administration
• Leading, mentoring and developing a Financial Analyst
• Contributing financial expertise to broader organisational projects and initiatives

About You
  
You'll be a strong financial analyst who enjoys working with complex information and turning it into clear, practical advice.
  
The role requires someone who can move comfortably between detailed modelling and analysis, senior stakeholder conversations and leadership responsibilities. Strong communication will be particularly important, as you'll regularly explain financial and funding matters to stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge.
  
You’ll bring:

• Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
• Strong financial analysis and modelling experience
• Advanced Excel capability
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience interpreting complex financial information and requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders
• High attention to detail and an ability to work with sensitive information
• Previous leadership, mentoring or coaching experience will be highly regarded

Experience within a regulated, government-funded or similarly complex environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
