Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
As a Senior Policy Adviser you'll help manage legislation and regulations, and drive legislative and regulatory change in an increasingly complex and evolving operational environment. You'll work alongside internal stakeholders and operational subject matter experts to make sure the legislative framework keeps pace with what delivery on the ground actually requires. Your advice will be sharp, succinct and plain English — briefings here run to a five-page limit. It's a role with genuine influence over policy that matters.
Ngā kawenga | Key Responsibilities
- Manage administered legislation, including regulations, across assigned portfolios
- Drive legislative and regulatory change that enables the organisation to operate effectively
- Test and advise on whether current legislation remains fit for purpose
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders and operational subject matter experts
- Add value to internal stakeholder commentary and feedback
- Produce succinct, plain-English written advice within a five-page briefing limit
- Represent the organisation with external stakeholders and represent Policy internally
- Flex to support wider team and group priorities alongside your own portfolios
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills & Experience
- Public policy advice experience, including some senior policy adviser experience
- Demonstrated critical thinking, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity
- Excellent written and oral communication, presenting information succinctly and in plain English
- Strong relationship management across both external and internal stakeholders
- Experience working closely with operational colleagues who are subject matter experts (advantage)
- Self-managing and self-aware, proactive about developing your own professional practice
