Retail Store General Manager


Lead a High-Volume Retail Operation and Drive Exceptional Results


An established national retailer is seeking an experienced Retail Store General Manager to lead a large-format, high-volume retail location. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven retail leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing teams, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and driving operational excellence.

The General Manager will have full responsibility for store performance, including sales growth, profitability, operations, merchandising, inventory management, staffing, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Store Leadership & Financial Performance

·        Drive store sales, profitability, and operational performance while achieving established business objectives.

·        Manage store expenses, payroll, and labor utilization to maximize profitability.

·        Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

·        Develop and execute strategic action plans to increase revenue and improve operating efficiency.


Team Development & Talent Management

·        Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain high-performing managers and associates.

·        Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and customer-focused service.

·        Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance management to leadership teams and frontline associates.

·        Ensure staffing levels align with business demands and customer expectations.


Operations & Inventory Management

·        Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.

·        Manage inventory accuracy, asset protection, freight processing, and merchandise flow.

·        Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.

·        Monitor store conditions to maintain an organized, safe, and customer-friendly environment.


Customer Experience & Merchandising

·        Champion a customer-first culture that delivers exceptional service and solution-based selling.

·        Ensure visual merchandising, promotional displays, and store presentation standards are consistently executed.

·        Evaluate customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall shopping experience.

·        Monitor market trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth.


Human Resources & Compliance

·        Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning initiatives.

·        Maintain compliance with employment laws, company policies, and operational guidelines.

·        Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Required

·        7+ years of progressive retail leadership experience in a high-volume retail environment.

·        Previous experience leading a large-format retail store with full profit and loss responsibility.

·        Demonstrated success managing sales, operations, merchandising, inventory, and customer service functions.

·        Experience leading large teams and developing management-level talent.

·        Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze financial and operational data.

·        Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Preferred

·        Experience within consumer electronics, technology, specialty retail, home improvement, warehouse retail, or other big-box environments.

·        Experience leading stores with 100+ employees.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
