Overview

Build the next generation of intelligent business applications as an AI Agent Engineer – Backend Focus. This role is ideal for a hands-on backend engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with practical experience developing and deploying production-grade AI agents.

You’ll partner with product managers and domain experts to understand complex workflows, define success criteria, and transform business challenges into reliable agentic solutions. From designing multi-agent workflows and integrating tools to deploying scalable backend services and continuously improving production performance, you’ll own solutions from discovery through implementation and ongoing optimization.

Required Skills

• Approximately 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend development and production systems.
• Approximately 2+ years of hands-on experience building AI agents or agent-powered production applications using code.
• Strong backend development experience with Python.
• Experience building REST APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with:
• LLM APIs and SDKs
• AI agent frameworks
• Multi-agent orchestration
• Tool calling
• Context and state management
• Agent execution workflows
• Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying:
• Production-grade backend services
• REST APIs
• External and internal integrations
• Data models
• Strong understanding of system design, API design, algorithms, data structures, access control, and scalable application architecture.
• Experience building reliable agent workflows with retries, caching, error handling, evaluations, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop approvals.
• Experience integrating AI agents with business systems, internal platforms, APIs, and external tools.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Understanding of schema design, joins, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, production monitoring, and staged deployments.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and implementation plans.
• Demonstrated ownership of solutions from requirements discovery and workflow design through deployment and production support.
• Ability to communicate proactively, clarify requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and work effectively through ambiguity.
• Ability to measure and improve outcomes such as time saved, errors reduced, and process efficiency.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Frontend development experience with JavaScript ES6+ and React.
• Experience using Claude Code or other AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with agent frameworks such as Google ADK or LangGraph.
• Experience developing Electron-based desktop applications.
• Knowledge of API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Basic DevOps experience, including Docker and CI/CD.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.
• Experience monitoring and optimizing AI agents with real users and measurable production outcomes.
• Ability to determine when an AI agent is appropriate versus a simpler automation approach.

Preferred Education and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional background in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field is preferred; specific educational requirements were not provided.
