This Warehouse Manager role is centred around taking full operational control of a fast-paced depot, leading both logistics and warehouse functions to deliver consistent, compliant and high-quality service. You will be responsible for driving performance across people, processes and profitability, ensuring the depot operates efficiently while meeting strict regulatory and customer requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role where the successful Warehouse Manager will shape standards, build capability within the team and take accountability for results across the entire site.
Job Responsibilities
- Take full operational responsibility for the day-to-day running of the depot across logistics and warehouse functions
- Lead, manage and develop Supervisors, Administrators, Drivers and Warehouse teams to deliver consistent performance
- Ensure full compliance with all health and safety legislation and promote a strong safety-first culture across the site
- Plan and organise daily workloads across logistics and warehouse operations to maximise efficiency and service levels
- Manage driver utilisation, vehicle allocation, hiring and de-hiring to ensure optimal resource use
- Oversee depot KPIs including service delivery, cost control, productivity and compliance metrics
- Analyse performance data and implement improvements to drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Take ownership of depot financial performance including budgeting, cost control and profitability
- Recruit, train, coach and appraise direct reports, addressing performance where required
- Ensure all vehicle, transport and warehouse legal requirements are consistently met
- Maintain accurate operational records including timesheets, stock checks and compliance documentation
- Oversee warehouse stock control processes and ensure regular checks are completed in line with procedures
- Implement and improve processes, procedures and operational standards across the depot
- Support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives within the operation
- Liaise with other depots and attend meetings as required to support wider operational alignment
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or similar role within warehouse and logistics operations
- Strong understanding of both transport planning and warehouse operations
- Demonstrable experience managing teams in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation within logistics environments
- Experience managing KPIs, analysing performance data and driving operational improvements
- Financial awareness with experience managing budgets and controlling operational costs
- Confident leadership style with the ability to motivate, develop and challenge teams
- Strong IT skills including WMS, routing systems, Excel and general Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-critical, service-led environment
Pay and Benefits
- Salary: up to £48,000
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
